Ugandan musician Douglas Mayanja, popularly known as Weasel, is currently hospitalized at Nsambya Hospital after allegedly being intentionally knocked by his partner, Sandra Teta, during a heated altercation in Munyonyo.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at a popular hangout spot known as Shans Bar, where many players in the music industry often gather for “katogo.”
Weasel was reportedly at the bar when Teta arrived in an agitated state, dropped off their children, and left. Moments later, she returned to pick up the children.
A verbal exchange erupted between the two, with insults reportedly traded on both sides.
As Teta re-entered her vehicle, she allegedly drove into Weasel using her vehicle registration number UBH 148Y, a Mercedes Benz white in colour, knocking him down in what witnesses claim appeared to be an intentional act.
Weasel was rushed to Nsambya Hospital, where he is said to be fighting for his life.
This is not the first time the couple has made headlines over domestic violence. Years ago, photos of a bruised Sandra Teta went viral, sparking public outcry. However, she later defended Weasel, downplaying the incident.
A source close to the couple revealed that such violent confrontations have been frequent in their relationship, stating that both Weasel and Teta have physically fought each other in the past.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.
“She has been charged with unlawful wounding of a person,” Owoyesigyire told this website.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing. Further details will be availed in due course.”
The vehicle has since been impounded and parked at Kabalagala Police Station.
Owoyesigyire said they are yet to record a statement from the suspect.
