Security agencies have rescued a six-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped by a shamba boy in Kampala, following a week-long search that ended in Wakiso District.
The child, Abraham Mpirwe Tumwesigye, was reportedly kidnapped on December 12, 2025, from Ddungu Zone in Kawempe Division, Kampala. He was recovered on December 19, 2025, from Busukuma in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, at about 9:30 a.m., according to police.
Confirming the development, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said security agencies acted swiftly after the incident was reported.
“Security agencies have successfully recovered six-year-old Mpirwe Tumwesigye, who was allegedly kidnapped on December 12, 2025, by a shamba boy,” SP Kawala said.
She explained that preliminary investigations indicate the suspect, David Muchunguzi, who was employed as a shamba boy by Dr. Emmanuel Tumwesigye, left with the child and failed to return.
“On December 12, 2025, at around 4:00 p.m. in Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division, David Muchunguzi left with the victim, Abraham Mpirwe Tumwesigye, to an unknown destination and did not return,” Kawala noted.
Police said a kidnapping case was immediately reported at Universal Police Post, prompting coordinated search operations by security agencies.
SP Kawala revealed that investigators relied on digital intelligence to trace the suspect and locate the child.
“Through analysis of the suspect’s TikTok videos, security agencies were able to trace and successfully recover the victim,” she said.
She added that efforts are still ongoing to arrest the suspect.
“Efforts to apprehend the suspect are ongoing. The child will be handed over to his parents after undergoing a medical examination,” SP Kawala stated.
Police said further details will be communicated as investigations continue.
