The Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court has remanded Abdu Tamale over allegations of forcibly entering private land, destroying crops and stealing property worth about Shs500 million.
Tamale was arraigned before the court by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID).
He faces charges of forcible entry, destruction of crops and theft and has been remanded until October 13, 2026.
Prosecution alleges that Tamale and other suspects falsely claimed ownership of a kibanja on land comprised in Busiro Block 514, Plots 6, 10 and 12 in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District.
The alleged offences occurred between October 30 and November 4, 2025, when Tamale and others allegedly mobilised a large group of people and violently entered and took possession of the land occupied by Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd.
According to the prosecution, the suspects unlawfully destroyed tree plantations, coffee trees and other natural trees on the property.
They are also accused of stealing nine motors belonging to coffee milling machines, said to be the property of Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd and valued at approximately Shs500 million.
Tamale becomes the latest suspect to be brought before court in connection with the alleged land grabbing and related offences, with other suspects having earlier been charged and remanded over the same matter.
Court has adjourned the case to October 13, when Tamale is expected to return for further proceedings.
