Bukedea Woman MP and Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has defended the performance of the 11th Parliament, describing it as one of the most remarkable in Uganda’s parliamentary history.
Speaking after taking oath at Parliament on 13th May 2026, Among praised the House for what she called extensive achievements, saying it had delivered significant work for the country under the current leadership.
“This Parliament has been a very good Parliament. We have done a lot, a lot of work. And I can tell you, it is one of the most remarkable Parliaments that we have had in the history of Parliaments.”
She hailed security for protecting Uganda’s peace.
“I want to thank the security forces for maintaining peace in this country,” she said.
Echoing president Museveni’s new slogan of “Kisanja No Sleep” Among vowed to work for the people.
“This is Kisanja No Sleep. We must be able to work for Wanaichi, work for humanity outside there, and concentrate on what affects the local people.”
Among further expressed gratitude to President Museveni for entrusting her with the responsibility of leading Parliament, saying the confidence placed in her would remain a lasting commitment she deeply values.
At Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Among arrived in a private vehicle with her security reportedly reduced compared to previous high-profile movements.
She was accompanied by her husband, Moses Magogo, as she joined other leaders for the swearing-in ceremony.
