At least 14 Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) personnel have successfully completed a six-week Aviation Security (AVSEC) Course in Mogadishu, aimed at boosting airport safety and operational readiness.
The graduation ceremony was led by Col Hamza Kasaija, African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) Sector One Contingent Administrative Officer, who urged the officers to apply their training on the job.
“Be careful, remain safe and minimise risks that may endanger lives and property by adhering to what you have been taught,” Col Kasaija said.
Mr David Romoleroux, Prime Manager at Hart/Longport and lead facilitator, said the course was meant to enhance professionalism and security skills.
Lt Col Thamson Musoke, Battle Group Air Component Commander, commended the trainees’ discipline and thanked the AUSSOM and UPDF leadership for their support.
Senior and junior officers from AUSSOM and UPDF attended the ceremony.
