Police have arrested 18 suspects and recovered several suspected stolen motor vehicle accessories during an intelligence-led operation targeting two arcades in Kisekka Market, Kampala.
The operation, conducted on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, between 11am and 3pm, targeted Ravens Plaza and Life Arcade following complaints from members of the public about the theft of vehicle accessories during traffic jams and from parked vehicles.
The suspects, including two women, were arrested as police intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks allegedly involved in stealing, handling and selling stolen motor vehicle spare parts.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat the theft of motor vehicle accessories in the city.
“Following complaints from members of the public regarding thefts of motor vehicle accessories during traffic jam hours and from parked vehicles, Police at Jinja Road on 04.11.2026 between 1100hrs and 1500hrs conducted an intelligence-led operation in Kisekka, targeting two identified arcades: Ravens Plaza and Life Arcade in Kampala,” Kawala said.
She said police recovered several exhibits, including vehicle grilles, side mirrors, baby mirrors, headlamps, rear lamps and other motor vehicle accessories, which will support ongoing investigations.
Kawala added that the 18 suspects were being held in police custody for screening as investigations continued.
“The suspects are currently in Police custody, where they will undergo screening as investigations continue,” she said.
Police said the operation forms part of broader efforts to dismantle suspected criminal networks involved in motor vehicle spare parts theft and the illegal trade in stolen accessories.
The force warned that investigations were ongoing, with further updates expected.
