Abdul Noor Ssemwogerere Ssemujju (Minana),a former security operative working with the Police Flying Squad and close ally to Nixon Agasiirwe has been charged and remanded over the murder of senior prosecutor, Joan Kagezi in 2015.
Minana was in 2017 arrested over Kagezi’s murder but released shortly was re-arrested last week by security from Kayunga where he lived.
On Tuesday, he was arraigned before the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court and murder charges, contrary to sections 171 and 172 of the Penal Code Act read against him.
The state alleges that Minana together with Nixon Agasiirwe and others still at large, on March, 30, 2015, at Kiwatule , Nakawa Division in Kampala district, unlawfully caused the death of Joan Kagezi.
He was however not allowed to take plea since the charges he faces are capital in nature and can only be tried by the High Court.
Chief State Attorney Richard Birivumbuka who was the prosecutor in the case asked for an adjournment since investigations into the murder are still ongoing.
The Nakawa Chief Magistrate, Esther Nyadoi remanded Minana to Luzira until July 8.
