Police have arrested three men who were found transporting suspected stolen cow meat in the boot of a car during a late-night operation in Nakulabye.

The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after police received intelligence about a suspicious vehicle believed to be carrying stolen property.

The suspects have been identified as Saka Kisiga Salongo, Hamza Guloba, a butcher, and John Bukenya, the driver of the vehicle.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala said officers tracked the vehicle after receiving a tip-off at about 2:00am.

“Acting on the tip-off, officers trailed the vehicle up to Nakulabye, where it later parked and the occupants began offloading slaughtered animals believed to be cows,” Kawala said.

Police officers immediately moved in and arrested three suspects at the scene.

According to police, the vehicle, a white Toyota Wish registration number UBG 345D, was recovered with two slaughtered cows hidden in its boot.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the animals were allegedly stolen from Zirobwe and Luweero areas before being transported to Kampala.

Police also suspect the meat was being sold in Nakulabye, where a kilogram was reportedly going for Shs10,000.

The three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
