President Museveni has assented to eight pieces of legislation, State House has announced.
Among the newly enacted laws is the National Drug and Health Products Authority Act, 2026, which expands regulatory oversight to cover medicines, vaccines, medical devices, diagnostics, cosmetics, and other health products, thereby strengthening safety and quality control.
The President also signed into law the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, 2026, which introduces mandatory energy standards, audits, and regulations targeting inefficient technologies.
Additionally, the Non-Performing Assets Recovery Trust (Repeal) Act, 2024 was assented to, dissolving the Trust and transferring its functions to the Ministry of Finance in a move aimed at streamlining operations.
The Employment (Amendment) Act, 2025 enhances protections for domestic, casual, and migrant workers, while the Forensic and Scientific Analytical Services Act, 2026 strengthens forensic systems and improves evidence handling.
Other laws assented to include the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights (Amendment) Act, 2026, the Public Enterprises Reform and Divestiture (Amendment) Act, 2024, and the Magistrates Courts (Amendment) Act, 2026.
