Ugandans across the country have voted Cindy Sanyu and Omega 256’s ‘See You Tonight’ as the biggest song of 2025, according to findings from the latest Uganda National Media Survey (UNMS) report due for release soon.

The survey, conducted by Market Intelligence Group (MIG) during the first half of 2026, examined media consumption trends across radio, television, print and digital platforms, while also assessing the influence of popular music as a form of mass communication.

The findings show that ‘See You Tonight’ emerged as the most popular song among respondents from all 146 districts surveyed, making it the country’s leading musical hit of 2025.

Dr. Joel Isabirye, the Principal Investigator of the survey, said the study included music-related indicators because popular songs play an important role in shaping public engagement and culture.

“We identified a number of variables that reflect how the public consumes media. Since we all know that popular music is a form of mass media, many stakeholders were interested in understanding the highlights in that space for the year 2025. The report gives these indicators,” Dr. Isabirye said.

‘See You Tonight’ was written by Mozy Wryta and produced by Ope Beatz. The song became one of the most successful releases of 2025, although its success has recently been overshadowed by disagreements between Cindy Sanyu and Omega 256 over ownership claims.

The upcoming UNMS report will also provide rankings of radio stations across Uganda’s sub-regions, television channels, newspapers and digital platforms based on audience reach and consumption patterns.

The findings are expected to provide fresh insights into Uganda’s evolving media landscape and changing audience preferences.
