Government publisher, the Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) has secured ISO 9001:2015 certification, a development the institution says will strengthen its competitiveness and open up opportunities in Uganda and international markets.
The certification formally recognises UPPC’s Quality Management System as compliant with internationally recognised quality standards, highlighting the Corporation’s efforts to improve consistency, accountability and efficiency in its operations.
UPPC Managing Director Prof. Sudi Nangoli said the certification would help position the Corporation to compete for a wider range of business opportunities.
“This certification demonstrates that UPPC is operating in accordance to internationally recognised quality standards. It strengthens confidence in our services and positions us to compete more effectively for opportunities both at home and in the international market,” Nangoli said.
The development comes as UPPC seeks to balance its statutory role as Uganda’s official Government publisher with its commercial mandate in the printing and publishing sector.
The Corporation publishes and disseminates official Government information, including the Uganda Gazette, laws and legislation. It also provides printing and publishing services to public and private-sector clients.
Director of Business Development Rebecca Nyakairu said the certification was the result of efforts to strengthen operational systems and improve the experience of customers.
“ISO certification is ultimately about the customer. We have strengthened our processes to deliver greater consistency, efficiency and accountability, while creating a culture of continuous improvement across UPPC,” Nyakairu said.
UPPC says the certification is expected to support its efforts to modernise its operations and build capacity to compete for business beyond Uganda.
