Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has extended an olive branch to her long-time rival, Rebecca Kadaga, after securing a landslide victory in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee elections.
Among, who was declared winner of the NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) seat with 11,680 votes against Kadaga’s 902, took to her X handle to thank delegates and pledge unity within the ruling party.
“Dear delegates, I am truly grateful for your love and support, not just today but throughout the campaign trail. With deep humility, I accept this landslide victory,” she wrote.
In a reconciliatory tone, the Speaker lauded her predecessor for her role in the party’s journey.
“I want to express my gratitude to our mother, Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, for running an excellent campaign and her significant contributions to the party and our country. We will rely on her for advice and guidance in the days ahead.”
Among further rallied members to stand behind President Yoweri Museveni and other party flagbearers ahead of the 2026 elections.
“Let us return to work, mobilise for our Party leader and flagbearers, and ensure a resounding victory for the mighty NRM. God bless you, and God bless our great NRM.”
