National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Treasurer Barbara Nekesa Oundo has donated land to the party for the construction of its district offices in Busia.
Nekesa handed over the freehold land title to NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong on behalf of the party Secretariat.
The property is located at Plot 31, Hadongole Road, in Busia Municipality.
Speaking during the handover, Nekesa said she acquired the land in July 2011, shortly after the start of the 9th Parliament, but it had remained undeveloped for nearly 15 years.
“I procured this land in July 2011, just a month into the 9th Parliament. I later acquired different properties after that and subsequently developed them, but for close to 15 years, this particular one has remained vacant. I think it was meant to host the Party in Busia District,” she said.
Nekesa said she was pleased to finally transfer the property to the party, noting that she believed it was intended to serve the NRM’s interests in the district.
“I am, therefore, more than happy to now donate it to where it was destined to be,” she said.
Todwong thanked Nekesa for the donation, describing it as a contribution to the party’s development and presence in Busia.
“You have demonstrated exemplary leadership to NRM members in Busia and the country at large,” Todwong said.
The donation is intended to provide the party with land on which to establish its district offices in Busia.
