NUP’s presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has pledged to create jobs, improve infrastructure, and provide markets for local produce during his campaign stops in Kibuku and Butaleja districts.
Bobi Wine, who began his day by inaugurating the new NUP offices in Kadaama Village, Kibuku, urged supporters to turn out in large numbers on election day, saying their votes could bring meaningful change to their districts.
He also promised to create reliable markets for rice, the main cash crop in the area, ensuring farmers have better opportunities to sell their produce.
“We are going to get markets for the rice you grow here. We are going to have a train that will transport your produce and provide reliable markets.”
He urged residents to turn out in large numbers during the elections, saying, “Please go and vote. When you vote in big numbers, we shall win.”
Addressing the youth, he promised to tackle unemployment and improve local infrastructure.
“Do youths here have jobs? These are things I am going to work on when I am voted into power. Vote for me and all these problems will be solved,” he said.
He also emphasized local empowerment in road construction. “You youths without jobs, we have a lot to do for you. These roads we are going to construct, we won’t be looking for Chinese to do them for us. We are going to construct all these roads ourselves.”
Kyagulanyi added that his global experiences would inform his governance.
“I’ve traversed this world and seen good things. Vote for me, and I will bring those good things here to Uganda.”
During the campaign, NUP aspirants who did not secure the party flag pledged to support the winners and rally local backing.
Supporters also asked Kyagulanyi to prioritize reviving the education system, citing alarming conditions in the districts.
He assured them that education would be among his top priorities.
Kyagulanyi will continue his campaign today, Wednesday, with visits to Manafwa and Namisindwa districts.
