General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), has directed the UPDF Engineers Brigade to fast-track the construction of the new Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) headquarters, setting a strict deadline of eleven months for completion.
The directive followed his inspection of the site, where the buildings are nearly halfway done.
Having presided over the groundbreaking in August last year, the CDF returned to the site exactly a year later to evaluate progress.
The new headquarters is envisioned as a modern facility fitted with advanced technology to improve the ministry’s operations.
According to project engineers, the structures have already reached the third level, with two additional floors planned before final works commence.
General Kainerugaba was accompanied on the inspection tour by senior military and ministry officials, including the Chief of Joint Staff, Lt Gen Jack Bakasumba, and Undersecretary Edith Butuuro.
