Security officials at Mandela National Stadium have issued a fresh warning to football fans ahead of Friday’s double-header fixtures in the ongoing CHAN 2025 tournament, reinforcing the list of items banned from the stadium to ensure the safety of spectators and players.
The stadium, which successfully hosted the initial round of matches under tight security, is preparing to welcome thousands of fans on Friday, August 8, as Algeria faces South Africa at 5:00 PM, followed by a highly anticipated Group C match between Uganda and Guinea at 8:00 PM.
According to the security team and the Local Organizing Committee, a joint review was held with representatives from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to assess previous deployments and strengthen protocols for the upcoming matches.
“Our initial security operations were successful, and we thank the public for their cooperation. Only a few attempted violations were registered, and those were swiftly dealt with,” Police said.
