Pay TV subscribers under MultiChoice Uganda will once again face higher monthly fees as the company announced another round of subscription price increases for both DStv and GOtv packages, effective August 1, 2025.
In messages sent to customers this week, MultiChoice Uganda confirmed that fees across several packages have been adjusted upward. GOtv Plus subscribers will now pay UGX 36,000 per month, up from UGX 35,000. Similarly, DStv Access customers will see their monthly charges rise from UGX 45,000 to UGX 49,000.
The latest increase marks the third adjustment in under two years, following previous hikes in March and October 2024. In early 2023, MultiChoice also increased rates for its premium DStv content, citing mounting operational costs.
While past price increases have triggered public backlash, the pay TV provider has consistently defended its pricing strategy, pointing to rising costs in content production, exclusive programming, and live broadcasting of both local and international sports.
The company has always defended the move saying heavy costs it puts into producing original content, delivering exclusive shows and broadcasting live sports events both local and international.
Multichoice emphasizes that there is value for money for its content.
Despite the backlash that often follows such hikes, MultiChoice Uganda insists that customers still receive premium entertainment at competitive rates compared to regional and global standards.
