First Lady Janet Museveni has spoken publicly for the first time in several months, expressing gratitude to Ugandans for their prayers and support during her period away from the public eye.
In a message shared on X, Mrs Museveni described her recovery as a testimony to God’s faithfulness and power.
“It’s me, Janet Museveni. It is a confirmation that the God I talk about is a living God. He is not a myth; He lives!” she wrote.
The First Lady also thanked President Yoweri Museveni and Ugandans for standing with her in prayer throughout her illness.
“I must therefore thank Uganda, beginning with Mzee, who has prayed with the whole nation. I praise God for leading us to know Him. Thank you all for coming out publicly to pray for me,” she said.
She further expressed appreciation for the continued prayers and birthday wishes she received during her absence.
“Thank you for all those continuous prayers and also for the kind birthday wishes. Thank you for letting me know just how much I am loved,” she added.
On Tuesday, Janet Museveni celebrated her 78th birthday. In a congratulatory message, President Museveni revealed that the First Lady had been battling illness since March and thanked God for her healing and recovery.
Her message of gratitude has also helped put to rest speculation about her health and wellbeing that had circulated during her prolonged absence from public engagements.
