Kampala businessman Godfrey Luyima has been remanded to prison after being arraigned before the KCCA Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretence, forgery, and uttering false documents.
Investigations show that in September 2021, while in Kampala, Luyima allegedly defrauded Hyun Uk Kim, a Korean national, of more than USD 600,000( over shs2.1 billion) .
The matter is tied to an earlier case in 2023, where former Kampala Land Board boss, David Balondemu , Eric Mkwe , James Mugisha Jeff, and Godfrey Maviri were also charged but later walked free after the case was dismissed under unclear circumstances.
The DPP has since ordered the reinstatement of charges against all suspects.
Luyima has been remanded until September 10, 2025, pending further proceedings.
