Police in Kampala have launched investigations into a violent robbery incident captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media, showing a group of men attacking an individual with pangas.
According to police, the incident occurred on June 15, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m. in Kigwanya Zone, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was returning home from work with his girlfriend and was heading to their residence in Kigwanya Zone when they were attacked by a group of about seven men armed with pangas,” Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala said on Tuesday.
She said the attackers allegedly robbed the victim of his belongings before fleeing the scene.
According to Kawala, officers at Nsangi Police Division have taken up the matter and commenced investigations aimed at identifying and arresting the suspects.
“Our task team is doing everything within its means to identify, trace and arrest the suspects so that they can be brought to justice,” she said.
Police have appealed to members of the public to cooperate with investigators and provide any information that could assist in the identification and arrest of the suspects.
Authorities said further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
