Sharon Nassolo Umutoni, a youth leader from Kiboga District, has been officially nominated to represent the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the race for Central Youth Member of Parliament ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Her nomination was confirmed on Thursday by the NRM Electoral Commission Vice Chairperson, Fred Omach, marking a significant step in her journey to represent the youth of Central Uganda on a national platform.

Speaking after her nomination, Nassolo emphasized the urgency for strong, relatable leadership among young people.
“We are not leaders of tomorrow; we are leaders of today. The decisions we make now will shape not only our generation but also the Uganda we leave behind,” she said. “The central region has been lacking bold, visionary, and relatable youth leadership—a status quo I intend to change.”

Nassolo highlighted her lived experiences as a young person growing up in Central Uganda, noting that they uniquely position her to advocate for the interests and aspirations of the region’s youth.
“I am one of them. I understand their dreams, struggles, and ambitions. This is why I am offering myself for this role—not to simply occupy a seat, but to take on a responsibility,” she said.

She also called for youth-led leadership at every level—from schools and parishes to digital spaces and national institutions—stating that intentional leadership is critical for Uganda’s progress.

With her nomination secured, Nassolo is set to campaign on a platform centered on youth empowerment, inclusivity, and transformational leadership in the Central Region.
