President Museveni has ordered for an end to former speaker of parliament, Anita Among’s house arrest.
The development was announced by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
“Mzee has also instructed me to release AAA from house arrest. We shall do that,” Gen Muhoozi said in a brief post on X.
Among has been under house arrest since May when several of her homes in Nakasero in Kampala, Kigo in Wakiso district and in Bukedea were raided by security as part of an investigation into corruption linked to her time as speaker of parliament.
Her office at parliament was also raided by detectives investigating her.
Several of her luxury vehicles have since been impounded by police as part of the investigations.
Gen Muhoozi recently said the shs3.4 billion 2025 Rolls Royce Cullinan that security seized from Among’s home would be auctioned by the state.
While a number of staff at parliament are currently facing charges related to money laundering, no charges have been brought against Among who according to the Chief of Defence Forces, will now be released from house arrest soon.
