President Museveni has made slight changes in the new cabinet list with Dr.Ruth Aceng now appointed as the new government chief whip.
She had earlier been named as the new minister for ICT and National Guidance to repalce Dr.Chris Baryomunsi.
However, Dr.Aceng has now been swapped with Justine Kasule Lumumba who had been appointed as the government chief whip.
Lumumba confirmed the swap on Thursday evening in a post on her X.
“Thank you President Museveni for redeploying me to the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance. I am honoured by the trust and ready to serve with dedication towards Uganda’s digital transformation agenda,”Lumumba posted.
The development comes on the heels of questions that followed her appointment as the govenrment chief whip yet she is not a Member of Parliament.
Ordinarily, the whip, whether chief or ordinary party whip, should be a member of parliament but Lumumba was not one.
Since she is not an MP, Lumumba was described as a “stranger” in parliament and appointing her as a chief whip had raised serious questions.
