The National Unity Platform (NUP) has pledged to create at least 10 million new jobs by 2032 if elected to power, making employment the centrepiece of its 2026–2031 manifesto launched in Buwenge, Jinja District.
The manifesto, unveiled under the theme “A New Uganda Now”, outlines eleven priority policy areas that party leaders say will restore dignity, unity, and fairness to Ugandans.
Party President and 2026 presidential flag bearer, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, said the jobs would come through reducing the cost of doing business and harnessing opportunities in tourism, manufacturing, sports, and the creative economy.
“Fellow citizens, very honored to present to you the National Unity Platform Manifesto, 2026–2031, which we launched in Jinja District today. This is a manifesto born out of extensive consultation with our people. These are not mere promises – this is a covenant we are making with the people of Uganda to give our nation a fresh start. A new Uganda now,” Kyagulanyi said.
Beyond job creation, the manifesto also commits to restoring constitutionalism and human rights, ending corruption, guaranteeing equal access to quality services, stopping land grabbing, and transforming Uganda into a technology-driven economy.
Other priorities include introducing a public-school feeding program, empowering local governments, strengthening foreign policy through the diaspora, and ensuring sustainable use of natural resources.
Party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi emphasized that the document is both a vision and a practical plan.
“Our Commitment: This manifesto is not just a critique of failure; it is a roadmap to reclaim our future. NUP’s leadership is ready and committed to delivering a Uganda that works for everyone, not just a privileged few,” he said.
According to NUP, the jobs plan is central to tackling poverty and restoring hope for millions of young Ugandans entering the labour market each year.
