The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope IV, has mourned the death of the Omukama of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, describing him as a visionary traditional leader whose legacy will endure for generations.
In a condolence message, the Kyabazinga said the people of Busoga stand with the Royal Family and the people of Tooro Kingdom during this difficult period of mourning.
“The people of Busoga and I join the Royal Family and the people of Tooro Kingdom in mourning the passing of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV,” Nadiope said.
The Kyabazinga described Omukama Oyo as “one of the visionary traditional leaders of our time,” praising his leadership, humility and commitment to preserving culture while inspiring a new generation.
“His leadership, humility and commitment to preserving culture while inspiring a new generation left a lasting mark on Tooro, Uganda and beyond,” he said.
Nadiope said the death of the Omukama was a loss not only to Tooro Kingdom but also to the entire country, describing him as an important voice and distinguished cultural leader.
“In Omukama Oyo, Uganda has lost an important voice and a distinguished cultural leader whose legacy will endure for generations,” he said.
He extended his thoughts and prayers to the Royal Family and the people of Tooro Kingdom, saying they had lost “a beloved King and a guiding force.”
“May His Majesty’s soul rest in eternal peace,” Nadiope said.
Omukama Oyo died on Thursday at the age of 34 following an undisclosed illness in the United States, where he had been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit for about a month.
