Police in Kampala have kicked off a manhunt for armed assailants who shot dead a private security guard before robbing cash amounting to shs28 million in Kiwatule.
The incident , according to the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, occurred on Monday, at approximately 7:45 pm at Kyolina Kyekikweyimilira Company in the Central Zone of Kiwatule Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
“It is alleged that four armed robbers, riding on two motorcycles and armed with three guns, dressed in reflectors, stormed the premises and shot dead a private security guard, later identified as Asuman Damba ,35, an employee of Tactical Security Company. The assailants then gained entry into the premises and robbed cash amounting to shs28 million before fleeing towards the Kiwatule–Naalya direction,” Owoyesigyire said.
He noted that as residents attempted to intervene by throwing stones, the suspects reportedly fired several shots in the air to deter pursuit.
