Police in Lubowa have recovered 30 stolen motor vehicle number plates following an operation in Seguku Zone 5, Wakiso District.
The recovery was made on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at around 1:30 p.m. after officers acted on a tip-off from residents.
The plates were found hidden in a sweet potato garden inside a sack branded Kakira Sugar.
According to police, statements have already been recorded from relevant witnesses, and the recovered items have been transferred to Mboa Police Station for safe custody.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, confirmed the recovery and appealed to victims of number plate theft to report to Lubowa Police Station.
“We recovered 30 number plates which had been stolen from various vehicles. They were found concealed in a sack within a sweet potato garden,” SSP Onyango confirmed.
He urged all individuals who reported their lost number plates to proceed to Lubowa Police Station for identification and recovery.
“I call upon all those who had their number plates stolen to visit Lubowa Police Station for identification and reclaiming of their property,” Onyango added
