Wakiso Police have recovered a rifle that was abandoned in Nkowe Village, Kaliti Parish, Mende Subcounty, following a theft incident at Kham Resort, a company dealing in welding and brickmaking.
According to police, the firearm is suspected to have been left behind by private security guards from Fountain Security, who had been assigned to protect the company.
Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, explained the circumstances.
“On 17/11/2025, at an unspecified time, unidentified individuals stole the company’s welding machines, grinders, and wires, and disappeared with them to an unknown destination. A team of police patrollers intercepted two suspects in possession of the stolen items, including three welding machines, two grinders, and wires. However, the suspects fled, leaving the stolen property behind, which was subsequently recovered by our officers.”
Police investigations suggest that the private security guards may have been involved in the theft, leaving their uniforms and the firearm behind in their room.
“The recovered machines and rifle have been secured as exhibits,” Kawala said, adding that a case of theft has been opened and efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects and bring them to justice.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information on the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation
