St. Maria Goretti Senior Secondary School, Katende (SMAGOK), has appealed to TikTok management to reinstate access to its official account, @stmariagorettikatende, after it was locked following a phishing attack.
The school says a fraudulent email — sent from approvecenterrs@gmail.com and impersonating TikTok’s verification team — tricked the page administrator into entering credentials via a counterfeit sign-in page. TikTok’s automated security systems then locked the account to prevent misuse.
In a formal recovery request, SMAGOK says it has submitted verifiable proof of ownership, including linked YouTube credentials, first registration details, and device records. The school emphasized that its official YouTube channel, youtube.com/@stmariagorettikatende, remains active and under its control.
“We have submitted clear, verifiable data proving ownership, including linked platform credentials, and respectfully request prompt restoration so the account can return to serving our students and community,” the school stated.
Among the verified details submitted were the first username @smagok, original linked email and phone number, registration location in Buddo, and authorized devices.
Waya Boy Joins Recovery Campaign
The campaign has received a boost from prominent alumnus Tonny Lukwago, popularly known as Waya Boy, a rising Afro-pop artist and philanthropist. With a strong following across music and social platforms, Waya Boy has publicly supported the school’s appeal.
“@stmariagorettikatende is the school’s voice online,” he said. “I’m proud to stand with my former school so the account is restored to the right hands and continues telling our story.”
The school says Waya Boy’s involvement highlights both the legitimacy of the recovery request and the importance of safeguarding an account that connects students, parents, alumni, and fans.
While the account remains locked, SMAGOK is urging the public to treat any past content or direct messages from @stmariagorettikatende with caution until an official restoration notice is issued.
