Police in Bweyogerere have launched investigations into the death of an 18-year-old male student at Naalya Secondary School Bweyogerere Campus in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, after he was found hanging inside a school toilet block.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said theĀ incident occurred on the evening of July 8, 2026, when the student was discovered unresponsive in the boysā section of the school premises. School authorities immediately alerted police, who responded to the scene.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was seen entering the toilet block shortly before he was discovered,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police also said a handwritten note believed to have been authored by the deceased was recovered at the scene and secured as part of the ongoing investigations.

The body was later transported to Mulago City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to help establish further details regarding the death.

Police also extended condolences to the studentās family, friends, and the Naalya Secondary School community as they come to terms with the tragedy.
The incident has renewed concerns about student welfare, mental health support, and the need for schools to strengthen systems that help learners facing personal challenges.
