Two individuals have been remanded to prison after allegedly posing as landowners and fraudulently selling a piece of land in Entebbe for Shs80 million.
The suspects identified as Junior Mugisha Bukanura Agaba and Naume Akora were on Thursday arraigned before the Entebbe Chief Magistrates Court and charged with obtaining money by false pretences, forgery, uttering false documents, and personation.
The suspects were jointly charged following investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
According to investigators, the accused, together with other accomplices still at large, allegedly orchestrated a fraudulent land transaction on October 14, 2025, through which they obtained Shs80 million from an unsuspecting buyer.
Prosecution states that the suspects falsely presented themselves as the registered proprietors of land comprised in Busiro Block 436, Plot 374 at Nalugala in Entebbe.
To facilitate the scheme, they allegedly forged National Identity Cards bearing the names and National Identification Numbers (NINs) of the genuine landowners, Allan Ahimbisibwe and Harriet Nassamula, but inserted their own photographs.
The court heard that the accused used the forged documents to execute a fraudulent sale agreement and convinced the victim to pay Shs80 million for land they neither owned nor had authority to sell.
The two suspects were remanded until July 15, 2026, as investigations continue and authorities pursue other individuals linked to the alleged fraud.
