The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has suspended Omusunsuzi, a controversial morning talk show on Salt Television, citing repeated violations of broadcasting standards, including the use of inappropriate language and unprofessional conduct by its presenters.
The programme, which aired weekdays from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM, was hosted by Jennifer Nakanguubi, popularly known as Full Figure, and veteran actor Charles James Ssenkubuge.
According to a statement issued by the UCC on Friday, the suspension follows routine content monitoring and public complaints alleging that the show contained abusive content and inappropriate language, broadcast during a time slot when children are likely part of the audience.
“The Commission found that this program… contains abusive content, inappropriate language, and displays unprofessional conduct by the presenters,” UCC stated. “These broadcasts occur during morning hours when children are likely to be watching, potentially exposing them to unsuitable material.”
UCC has directed Salt Television to immediately suspend the programme, respond in writing to all complaints received, and submit recordings of the show aired between August 1 and September 12, 2025, along with the script used for editorial review.
Salt TV has until Friday, September 19, 2025, to confirm full compliance and submit the requested materials. The Commission cited its mandate under the Uganda Communications Act, Cap. 106, in taking regulatory action.
“The UCC remains committed to protecting the public from harmful or offensive content and ensuring that broadcasters operate in compliance with the law and professional standards,” the statement concluded.
The suspension comes on the heels of increased public scrutiny of Full Figure’s conduct, both on-air and off.
In recent weeks, the outspoken figure has made headlines for verbal spats with political figures, including controversial remarks directed at fellow public personalities, which many critics deemed inflammatory and unbecoming of a national broadcaster.
She was recently assaulted by unknown people.
Observers argue that the suspension is the culmination of a pattern of confrontational rhetoric and polarizing commentary that Full Figure has consistently delivered both on television and social media.
While Salt TV has not yet publicly responded to the UCC directive, the suspension adds to the growing debate over the role of media personalities in shaping public discourse, and the responsibility broadcasters have to uphold ethical standards, particularly during family viewing hours.
