Uganda Baati strengthened its commitment to community health and civic engagement on Saturday by sponsoring this year’s Gulu City Marathon, one of Northern Uganda’s most vibrant sporting events.
As part of its involvement, the company owned and managed the signature Uganda Baati 5km track, which was officially flagged off by the Uganda Baati Chief Executive Officer, George Arodi.
The marathon featured four categories—5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km—drawing a wide range of participants from elite athletes to families and community groups.
The event blended competitive sport with mass participation, offering a platform for athletic excellence, community bonding, and local economic activity.
“Participating in the Gulu City Marathon and flagging off the Uganda Baati Fun Run was a powerful reminder that corporate leadership extends beyond commercial success,” said George Arodi, CEO of Uganda Baati.
“Our sponsorship reflects a long-term commitment to supporting initiatives that foster healthy lifestyles, strengthen communities, and create shared value for the people of Uganda.”
Race organizers reported strong turnout across all categories, noting the energy and collaboration from runners, volunteers, and local partners. The Uganda Baati 5km track was especially popular with families, amateur runners, and community organizations.
Ahead of race day, Uganda Baati—through the Safal Uganda Baati Foundation—conducted two free community health camps at its Gulu showroom.
Held on Thursday, the camps offered blood pressure and blood sugar checks, basic treatment, health education, and referrals. These efforts complemented the company’s marathon-day safety measures, further illustrating its commitment to wellbeing and community service.
“On behalf of the Gulu City Marathon organizing committee, I extend our sincere appreciation to Uganda Baati for their exemplary support,” said Marathon Convener Francis Gimara.
“Their leadership as platinum sponsor and ownership of the 5km significantly enhanced the event’s reach and impact.”
Uganda Baati reaffirmed its dedication to supporting community initiatives in health promotion, youth engagement, and local development as part of its long-standing corporate social responsibility agenda.
