The UPDF Armored Division Commander in Masaka, Major General Deus Sande, has passed away, the Ugandan army has confirmed.
UPDF acting spokesperson, Col Chris Magezi said Maj Gen Sande died in Mpigi on Wednesday morning.
“He was on his way to attend the funeral service of comrade Maj Gen Francis Takirwa at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero and developed breathing complications along the way and efforts to resuscitate him at a hospital facility in Mpigi failed,” Col Magezi said.
He said the exact cause of death will be ascertained later.
Maj Gen Sande’s death comes on the heels of the passing of another top commander in the UPDF, Maj Gen Francis Takirwa, the deputy commander for land forces who died after a long illness on Saturday.
Gen Takirwa died of illnesses related to stroke ,according to the UPDF.
