Vivo Energy Uganda, distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, is showcasing its newly launched Shell Gas clean cooking solutions for schools at the Association of Secondary School Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU) annual conference, running from Monday to Thursday this week at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The company has also contributed shs 20 million to support the event’s organisation and logistics.
Speaking at the conference, Alvin Bamutire, LPG Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, highlighted the company’s commitment to the education sector while promoting the benefits of safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly cooking energy.
“This conference offers us a valuable opportunity to engage with school leaders, demonstrate our schools’ LPG project, and highlight the long-term benefits of Shell Gas for institutional cooking. We are proud to support ASSHU and look forward to exploring future partnerships that will improve cooking solutions in schools,” Bamutire said.
As part of its participation, Shell Gas is exhibiting at the conference, providing attendees with a firsthand look at its LPG solutions designed specifically for schools. The showcase highlights Shell Gas’ advantages, including cost efficiency, safety, environmental benefits, and reliability over traditional cooking fuels.

The adoption of LPG offers multiple benefits for schools. It promotes environmental responsibility and healthier cooking practices, reduces costs compared to firewood and charcoal, lowers health risks from smoke exposure, and increases cooking efficiency, allowing more time for academic and extracurricular activities.
King’s College Budo, one of Uganda’s oldest and most prominent schools, recently transitioned to LPG, setting a landmark example in the education sector for sustainability and safety.
Deborah W. Basekanakyo, President of ASSHU, and Zulaika Nabukeera, General Secretary of ASSHU, welcomed Vivo Energy’s sponsorship and participation, noting that it enriches conversations about innovative solutions for schools and fosters stronger partnerships.
Through its engagement at the conference, Vivo Energy Uganda aims to strengthen ties with stakeholders and encourage schools across the country to adopt clean, safe, and efficient cooking energy.
