Xiaomi has introduced the new REDMI 17 Series, expanding its value-focused smartphone portfolio with a combination of large battery capacity, an immersive high-refresh-rate display, enhanced durability and everyday performance.
The new lineup comprises the REDMI 17 and REDMI 17 5G, both featuring a 7,500mAh (typ) battery, a 6.9-inch display with up to a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 50MP AI dual-camera system.
Battery life is a central feature of the REDMI 17 Series. Xiaomi says the 7,500mAh battery is designed to support extended periods of streaming, navigation, video calling, content creation and other everyday activities without frequent charging.
According to Xiaomi’s testing, REDMI 17 can provide up to 28 hours of video playback, 91 hours of music playback, 46 hours of calling or 12 hours of video recording, depending on usage conditions.
The REDMI 17 5G is rated for up to 28 hours of 1080p local video playback, 109 hours of music playback using Bluetooth earphones, 53 hours of calling and 10 hours of 1080p video recording.
6.9-inch 120Hz display
Both smartphones feature a 6.9-inch display aimed at providing a more immersive experience for video streaming, gaming, browsing and reading.
The display supports a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate that can dynamically switch between 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz depending on usage. Xiaomi says this is intended to balance smoother interactions with power efficiency.
The display also incorporates DC dimming and carries three TÜV Rheinland certifications, while Corning Gorilla Glass 7i provides added protection against scratches and drops.
An IP64 rating offers resistance against dust and water, while Wet Touch Technology is designed to maintain touchscreen responsiveness in everyday wet conditions.
The REDMI 17 Series introduces a nature-inspired design with several color options.
REDMI 17 will be available in Black, Deep Blue, Oak Green and Lotus Purple, while REDMI 17 5G will come in Black, Deep Blue and Vivid Orange. The Vivid Orange version features a PU leather finish.
The phones feature a flat display, matte frame, Metal Deco design and a more pronounced R-angle. A center punch-hole camera and slimmer bezels contribute to a cleaner front design.
Xiaomi has also incorporated a Dynamic RGB Light system that can provide visual notifications for incoming calls, app alerts, charging, gaming and camera use.
The REDMI 17 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra, while the REDMI 17 5G uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform and supports 5G connectivity.
Both models support up to 12GB of RAM through Memory Extension, which is designed to improve application launches and multitasking.
The smartphones run Xiaomi HyperOS 3, which brings smoother animations, improved responsiveness and a more streamlined experience across everyday applications and tasks.
For photography, the REDMI 17 Series features a 50MP AI dual-camera system designed for everyday photography.
The smartphones also support dual-view shooting, allowing users to capture footage from the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
Audio is handled by dual stereo speakers with a claimed volume boost of up to 300%, providing louder output for videos, music and calls.
