Police has announced plans to recruit 100,000 Election Special Police Constables to support security operations during the 2026 general elections.
According to a statement released by police, the recruitment is open to “suitably qualified Ugandan citizens” who will serve within their respective districts of residence on a three-month contract.
“Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens to serve with the Uganda Police Force on a three months’ contract as Election Special Police Constables,” the statement reads in part.
Each recruit will receive a monthly remuneration of shs 469,000 and will undergo a one-month basic security training course before deployment.
Police specified that applicants must be Ugandan citizens aged 18 years and above, possess a valid National Identity Card, and hold at least a Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) certificate.
“They must have good conduct, no criminal record, be physically fit, nationalistic, and patriotic,” the police statement added.
Preference will be given to individuals with a proven record of volunteerism with the Uganda Police Force, while women are highly encouraged to apply.
Applications must be handwritten and addressed to the Inspector General of Police, accompanied by photocopies of academic documents, a national ID, one passport-size photograph, and recommendation letters from LC I, LC III, and the GISO of the applicant’s area.
All applications should be submitted to District or Divisional Police Headquarters no later than November 1, 2025.
Police warned against fraud and impersonation, cautioning that anyone found presenting forged documents will be arrested and prosecuted.
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, with dates to be announced later.
