Uganda’s national parks to open for two-day free entrance- UWA announces

The Uganda Wildlife Authority has announced two days’ free entrance to the country’s national parks this month for everyone.

Speaking during the launch of this year’s World Tourism Day celebrations, UWA Executive Director, Dr.James Musinguzi said the open park days will be held between September 25 and 27.

“On these two days, we will have Uganda, East African and foreign residents allowed to visit and enjoy national parks free of charge. The free activities within the park will include park entrance, game drives, guiding services, access to the top of the falls, filming and photography,” Dr. Musinguzi said.

He said this offer will be applicable to Lake Mburo national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Pian Upe game reserve and Kidepo Valley national park.

“This will offer the public a unique opportunity to explore our stunning beauty,” Dr. Musinguzi said.

Speaking during the same function, the state minister for Tourism, Martin Mugarra said the country will hold month-long activities spotlight Uganda’s tourism sector

“Tourism is a driver of long-term change, creating livelihoods, so regarding cultural heritage, protecting the biodiversity and promoting inclusive growth, hence ensuring that tourism benefits both present and future generations, while aligning with global development goals,” Mugarra said.

“Under NDP IV, government has committed to expanding tourism infrastructure, diversifying products and human capital, and aggressively marketing Uganda but also speaks directly growth strategy. This aims to increase the contribution of tourism to Uganda’s GDP through diversification, infrastructure development.”

The celebrations will climax with main celebrations in Arua City on September 27.
