Police in Kampala have launched an investigation into a suspected murder after sliced human remains were discovered inside a locked wooden box abandoned in Buloba swamp, along the Manja–Muzinda road.
According to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the remains were recovered on Wednesday by a bricklayer.
“Musoke William, a bricklayer, spotted the locked wooden box at 11:10 am on September 10, 2025. He reported the incident to Nsangi police at 7:30 pm the same day,” Onyango said.
He said a team of police officers visited the scene, and the box containing suspected human remains was taken to the city mortuary for postmortem examination.
“The officers discovered cut pieces suspected to be human – suggests a potentially gruesome crime,” Onyango said.
He noted that Nsangi Police Division is working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this incident .
“The police are making an appeal to the public, particularly those who have a missing family member or know someone who might be unaccounted for, to visit Mulago City Mortuary. The purpose is to assist authorities in identifying the victim whose remains were found in a wooden box along Manja-Muzinda road in Buloba swamp.”
