The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has commissioned a newly constructed and extended three-phase power line to Kaweweta Special Forces Command (SFC) School and Command Centre, marking a key milestone in improving access to reliable electricity for the institution and surrounding communities.
In a statement, UEDCL said the project involved the construction of 1,700 meters of a 33kV, 3-phase ACSR 50 MV line, alongside the installation of two 33kV surge arrestors and two 33kV drop-out fuse isolator sets, to strengthen safety and network stability.
The new system commissioned on Wednesday, is powered by a 50kVA mounted transformer.
“We are confident that this system will adequately meet the electricity needs of the school and the surrounding community,” UEDCL said a post on X.
The company noted that the development represents “another achievement in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity empowering education, training, and socio-economic transformation.”
UEDCL emphasized that by lighting up institutions like Kaweweta SFC School and Command Centre, the government is “not only enabling better learning and operations but also driving socio-economic growth in the surrounding communities.”
The project is part of UEDCL’s ongoing efforts to expand electricity access, improve infrastructure reliability, and support Uganda’s broader goal of rural electrification and inclusive development.
