SFC-Police partnership hailed for strengthening Uganda’s security architecture

The Special Forces Command (SFC) and the Uganda Police Force have been praised for deepening their strategic cooperation, with officials highlighting the partnership as a cornerstone of Uganda’s evolving security architecture.

The commendation came during the pass-out ceremony of 125 Presidential Protection Guard (PPG) officers who completed a four-month Tier 2 VVIP Protection Course at the VVIP Training School in Sera, Kasenyi, on 22nd November 2025.

Presiding over the ceremony, Brig Gen. Paul Namawa, the SFC Chief of Staff, applauded both the SFC Commander and the Inspector General of Police for championing joint training initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s security capabilities.

He stressed that the long-standing collaboration between the PPG and SFC is central to the protection of high-profile individuals and to broader national security operations.

Brig Gen. Namawa reinforced President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s guidance on joint, coordinated security efforts, cautioning the forces against “blind deployment”—a practice he said exhausts personnel and leads to unnecessary operational costs. He congratulated the graduates and reminded them to uphold values of courage, loyalty, consciousness, integrity, and ideological clarity as they assume their duties.

The Training School Commandant, Maj. Samson Mucunguzi, extended gratitude to the UPDF leadership—particularly Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Maj Gen. David Mugisha—for their continued support.

He also commended the Uganda Police Force for entrusting the school with the training of its officers. Maj. Mucunguzi recognized the dedication of instructors and urged the new graduates to remain disciplined, healthy, and committed to service.

Col. Wilson Bagonza, Commander of the 3rd Special Forces Group, encouraged the officers to anchor their service in patriotism, nationalism, and Pan-Africanism.

He praised their performance in drills, shooting, and martial arts and urged them to maintain physical fitness while avoiding corruption, sectarianism, intrigue, and the lure of a “soft life.”

Representing the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Simon Okosh lauded the SFC for offering elite, internationally respected training.

He reminded the graduates that they are privileged to have been taught by top-tier instructors and urged them to sustain high levels of discipline and professionalism.

CP Okosh also addressed rumours suggesting that the army had assumed control of election security, categorically stating that the Police remains the lead agency, with UPDF only offering support under police command.

Officials reaffirmed  that the strengthened collaboration between the UPDF, SFC, and Uganda Police Force is raising the bar for Uganda’s overall security effectiveness.
