Police in Tororo District have arrested a man suspected to be behind the gruesome murder of a Kenyan woman whose body was discovered in Malaba North Cell, Malaba Town Council, on Sunday morning.
The victim, identified only as Rehema, a Kenyan national from Bungoma, was found lying in a pool of blood at around 6:00 am on December, 8, 2025, sending shockwaves through the border community.
According to police, a K-9 unit was immediately deployed to the scene. The dog, named Vegas, picked up a human scent and began tracking through several houses for about 100 metres before leading officers directly to the bedroom of Musa Loketo, a resident of Malaba North Cell.
Although Loketo was not found at home during the initial search, police later traced and arrested him.
A follow-up search, conducted in the presence of the local area chairperson, revealed bloodstains both inside the suspect’s room and on the door.
Police also recovered quantities of dried marijuana from the room, alongside other exhibits collected for forensic analysis, including blood samples.
Investigators say the recovered evidence, combined with the K-9 trail, firmly links the suspect to the crime.
Authorities have not yet established the motive for the killing but confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as inquiries continue.
