Police in Buyende District have arrested two women in connection with a suspected case of gender-based violence after their husband sustained serious injuries to his genitals.
The victim, Robert Bebwa (51), is the LC I vice chairperson of Butayunjwa B Village. Police say he was allegedly attacked by his two co-wives, Esther Naluvuma (44) and Norah Nakayunja (53), residents of Buyanja Sub-county.
According to preliminary police investigations, the assault was triggered by accusations of infidelity. The incident was reported to Kidera Police Station on December 15, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m., according to SSP Samson Lubega, the Busoga North Regional Police spokesperson.
“The suspects allegedly assaulted Bebwa and inflicted severe injuries using a sharp object, causing serious wounds to his private parts,” SSP Lubega said.
Following the attack, Bebwa was rushed to Kidera Health Centre IV, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The two suspects are being held in police custody as investigations continue. Police say they will be formally charged upon completion of inquiries.
SSP Lubega condemned the incident, warning against violence within domestic settings.
“Domestic violence in all its forms is unacceptable. We urge the public to seek assistance from community leaders, the police or other relevant authorities whenever conflicts arise, rather than resorting to violence,” he said.
Police noted that similar incidents, in which women allegedly attack their husbands’ genitals, have been reported in Buyende and neighbouring Kamuli districts, raising concern over escalating domestic violence in the region.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
