Security agencies have heightened operations across the Kampala Metropolitan area ahead of Eid al-Fitr celebrations on March 20, 2026.
Police say officers are on high alert to ensure a peaceful and secure environment, with special focus on mosques, crowded places, and entertainment venues.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Rachael Kawala, urged strict enforcement of security measures at places of worship.
“As the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end and Muslims prepare to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on 20/03/2026, security agencies have heightened security across the Kampala Metropolitan area,” she said.
She added that security checks at mosques are important in preventing crime and possible threats during the celebrations.
“We encourage the enforcement of mandatory security checks at mosques to help prevent crime and potential threats,” she said.
Kawala also called on the public to report any suspicious individuals or unattended items and advised people to stay alert and avoid walking alone in isolated areas at night.
Police have reassured the public of their commitment to keeping everyone safe and wished Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid al-Fitr celebration.
