Absa Bank Uganda has launched a new customer rewards initiative dubbed the Island Escape campaign, offering its Personal Prestige and Premier Banking customers a chance to win an all-expenses-paid island getaway for two.
The promotion, which runs from May to July 2026, is designed to encourage increased use of Absa debit and credit cards by turning everyday transactions into entries for a monthly prize draw.
Customers automatically qualify by using their Absa cards to pay for goods and services, with entries earned once a set spending threshold is reached. No additional registration is required.
According to the bank, one winner will be selected each month through a transparent draw process, producing three winners over the course of the campaign. Each winner will receive a fully paid island vacation for two and will be contacted directly by the bank.
“We believe banking should extend beyond managing money to enriching people’s lives,” said Moses Rutahigwa, Retail and Business Banking Director at Absa Bank Uganda.
“The Island Escape campaign rewards our customers for using products they already trust, while showcasing the convenience, security, and global access that come with Absa cards.”
The bank noted that Uganda’s digital payments sector continues to grow, supported by rising smartphone adoption and increased trust in electronic financial services.
Absa reported strong performance in its card business, with card payment volumes growing by 17.9%, outperforming the broader market. Active card usage also increased by 14.6% as of March 2026, compared to 2% market growth.
The bank further highlighted its continued dominance in the credit card segment, accounting for more than 70% of cards in circulation and about 69% of total credit card transaction volumes as of December 2025.
Rutahigwa said Absa cards are designed to offer convenience, security, and global usability. “Our cards deliver a seamless experience from tap-to-pay convenience to real-time controls. This campaign is another way we are recognising and rewarding our loyal customers,” he said.
Absa debit and credit cards feature contactless payments, international acceptance, and instant transaction alerts. Customers can also block or replace cards, set spending limits, and monitor transactions through the Absa Mobile Banking App or customer care services.
The bank also emphasized its security systems, including EMV chip technology, 3D Secure authentication, and 24/7 fraud monitoring.
Absa said the Island Escape campaign reflects its broader strategy of combining secure digital banking with lifestyle-driven rewards, aimed at enhancing customer experience and deepening engagement with its card services.
