: DStv has announced that eligible Showmax subscribers will, starting this month, receive trial access to DStv Stream Compact for a limited period, as part of its move toward a single streaming platform on DStv Stream.
This initiative brings Showmax Originals together with live TV, sports, and a broader range of entertainment in one app. After the trial period, qualifying customers can continue with DStv Stream Compact at a special price of ssh20,000 per month for 12 months, provided their subscription remains active and payments are up to date.
Eligible customers will enjoy free access until the end of May, after which they can continue at shs 20,000 per month for 12 months—a saving of up to 75% compared to the standard DStv Stream Compact pricing. Standard pricing is shs110,000 per month on a 12-month plan, or shs120,000 month-to-month.
The offer provides Showmax customers with an expanded content experience, including international series and movies, kids’ programming, and live sports via SuperSport, all accessible on mobile devices and smart TVs. DStv Stream also features tools such as Watch From Start, offline downloads, and data management options.
“The business priority is to ensure customers continue to have a home for the stories they love,” said a DStv spokesperson. “By bringing thousands of hours of Showmax Originals and a richer on-demand library into DStv Stream, we are creating a holistic experience where live sports, news, top international content, and award-winning local drama coexist.”
DStv Compact, Compact Plus, and Premium customers will continue to enjoy access to Showmax content on DStv Stream at no additional cost. Details on how to take up the offer will be communicated directly via the email linked to their Showmax account.
After the trial period, customers can continue on DStv Stream Compact at shs 20,000 per month for 12 months, provided payments remain up to date.
The offer applies to qualifying customers, including Showmax subscribers who do not currently have an active DStv subscription and subscribe directly to Showmax. It excludes existing DStv customers who already receive Showmax content as part of their package or who have added Showmax to their DStv bill.
Showmax subscriptions will not migrate automatically. Customers wishing to continue watching must follow a simple sign-up process for DStv Stream, including creating a new profile, which takes less than five minutes.
Those who choose not to transition to DStv Stream may request a refund for any unused portion of their Showmax subscription, subject to standard terms and conditions. Autopayments to Showmax will stop automatically once the service is discontinued.
The Showmax platform will officially close on 30th April 2026, with Showmax Originals continuing to be available on DStv Stream.
