Police has issued strict traffic guidelines and diversions ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of President Museveni, warning motorists against unauthorized parking and restricted access around Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Museveni will be sworn in as the elected president of Uganda for the 7th term on Tuesday May 12 at Kololo Independence grounds.

According to Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, motorists are advised to plan their journeys early and strictly follow instructions issued by traffic officers deployed along the designated routes.

“To enhance safety, security, and orderliness, certain activities will be prohibited along designated routes.

Parking outside authorized areas is strictly forbidden, and any vehicles found in violation will be towed to the nearest police stations at the owner’s expense,” Rusoke said in a statement.

Police said access to roads leading to Kololo will be restricted to accredited vehicles only, especially along Ssezibwa Road, Golf Course traffic lights, and John Babiha Road (Acacia Avenue).

Invited guests will access the venue through John Babiha Road via Elgon Terrace at Heroes Corner Gate, while routes for VIPs and VVIPs will be communicated through invitation and accreditation channels.

Traffic Police also announced several diversions around Kololo. At Wampewo Roundabout, motorists will not be allowed onto Wampewo Avenue and will instead be diverted to Jinja Road.

At Golf Course/Fairway Hotel traffic lights, only VVIP vehicles with red stickers will access Acacia Avenue.

Police further noted that motorists from Old Kira Road and Mawanda Road will be diverted towards Mulago traffic lights near City Oil on Acacia Road.

Designated parking areas for invited guests include City High School, Phaneroo Grounds, Uganda Management Institute (UMI), and Millennium Grounds, while Members of Parliament will park at Parliament and NRM Secretariat members at Kyadondo offices.

Rusoke added that the Entebbe Express Highway and Northern Bypass will remain open to the public, although temporary diversions may be introduced at key junctions including Mpala, Kisubi, Kajjansi, Serena-Kigo, Mutungo-Kitiko, Busabala traffic lights, and Munyonyo Roundabout.

Police appealed to the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative during the national event.
