Residents and businesses in Bulenga, Bujjuuko, Jeza and several surrounding areas along the Mityana Road corridor will experience planned electricity outages on Monday, July 27, Wednesday, July 29, and Friday, July 31, 2026, as the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) undertakes refurbishment works on the Mutundwe–Mityana 33kV distribution line.
According to UEDCL, the scheduled outages will run from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on each of the three days to allow engineers to carry out the planned network upgrades.
The affected areas include Bulenga, Bujuuko, Jeza, Kikaaya, Gogonya, Millers, Nakuwadde, Bira, Mpawo, Kireka, Musoke Road, Kalambi, Buloba, Kiwumu, Bulaga, Kapeeka, Wotansimbi, Buvala C, Muduuma, Gavu, Kisamula, Lulumbu, Nswanjere and Katuuso.
Other affected areas are Tiribogo, Bulamu, Kiwawu, Buwalula, Kikonge, Kitalya, Azuri Farm, Nkambi Coffee Factory, Namungo, Kyesengenze, Kyankowe, Ndibulungi, Zigoti, Tanda, Tamu, Kitinkokola, Kabule Trading Centre, Bulenga Trading Centre, Viseki Trading Centre and Kyengeza.
UEDCL advised customers in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the planned outages.
“All affected customers are advised to plan accordingly during this period. If your power supply is not restored by the scheduled time, please reach out to us through any of our contact channels. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” the company said.
The utility said the refurbishment works are intended to strengthen the electricity distribution network and improve service delivery.
Upon completion, the project is expected to improve power supply reliability along the Mityana Road corridor and in the districts of Mityana, Butambala, Gomba and Kassanda.
The upgrades will also enhance voltage regulation at the Mityana Substation, increase network capacity to meet growing domestic and industrial electricity demand, and significantly reduce technical losses along the Mutundwe–Mityana 33kV feeder.
