The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a final reminder to heads of examination centres to complete registration of all eligible candidates ahead of the July 31, 2026 deadline.
The board warned that no additional candidates will be accepted after the deadline as preparations continue for this year’s Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.
UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer Jennifer Kalule-Musamba said the ongoing exercise is the final opportunity for schools and examination centres that have not completed registration to submit details of their candidates.
She explained that candidates registered during this final phase will be required to pay additional charges for late registration.
Under the arrangement, PLE candidates will pay a 100 per cent surcharge, while UCE and UACE candidates will attract a 50 per cent surcharge.
The applicable registration fees during the final phase are Shs68,000 for PLE candidates, Shs246,000 for UCE candidates and Shs219,000 for UACE candidates.
“After July 31, we will not be in a position to register any more candidates for this year,” Kalule-Musamba warned.
She urged heads of examination centres to use the remaining time to ensure all eligible learners are registered, stressing that the board will not extend the deadline.
The board’s warning comes as schools across the country prepare learners for the national examinations, which determine progression to the next levels of education and future academic opportunities.
