Police in Busoga North have arrested a supervisor with Securex Private Security Company who was captured in a viral video allegedly assaulting a fellow security guard.
The suspect has been identified as Joseph Warom, a supervisor with Securex Private Security Company.
According to police, Warom is accused of assaulting Ayub Mbadi, another Securex security guard deployed at Kidera Sugar Works in Buyende District.
“Following a viral video circulating on social media showing a private security guard being assaulted by two male individuals, the territorial Police in Busoga North have arrested one suspect in connection with the incident,” police said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mbadi had been apprehended by Warom, who accused him of stealing scrap materials from the sugar factory.
“It was during this incident that the alleged assault occurred,” police said.
Warom is currently in police custody and is expected to face charges of assault as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
Police have warned against taking the law into one’s own hands, urging members of the public to report suspected wrongdoing to the relevant authorities.
“We reiterate that allegations of wrongdoing should be handled through lawful procedures and that no individual should take the law into their own hands,” police said.
